Ah, how lovely!

I have an obsession with glamour, this is true. I try my best to introduce it into my daily life but it is so hard when my day to day job requires quite a bit of heavy lifting and dusty mess, and when my days off roll around, I'm so tired I just slum in pajamas and read magazines all day. Ho-hum. But when I do get a day to really spiff myself up, it is such a treat. The above photo was taken on a day when I decided to be a bit fancier for the workplace. However by the end of my shift my nice trousers were covered in dust and all sorts of fluff. But the scarf was still in tact ... needless to say I think it's important to find a balance of comfort and style. I know I can't wear heels and dainty stockings on the job, I'd wreck them - but I'm figuring out ways to add a bit of specialness.

And for some real glamour, well there's always the 1950's. I can't wait for the day when I can wear a shimmering suit and gold heels and stand in the lobby of a hotel and just ... be!

first off, i love your eyebrows.
and second, where do you work that you have to get so dusty all the time?

I sympathize completely! I work in a doggy daycare and volunteer with a wildlife rehab. I also have to hike up a giant hill to attend school. As much as I would like to go through my days dressed in vintage finery, it just isn't possible. I love the Life photo (isn't Vintage Vogue's photostream amazing?!), and I love your style in the first photo!

you do have beautiful eyebrows, that is soo glamorous and makes me want to do my makeup for no reason. i'm curious, why would you need to be around heavy lifting and dusty stuff? school's not exactly a great place to really dress up either:)

Ahh I love dressing up for no reason whatsoever, just to go to a lecture or a seminar, it makes the most boring of days fun. xx
