Fashion Timeline 2008

At the end of the year, everyone tends to look back on their defining moments, the new things they acquired (whether they're tangible objects or relationships, skills, knowledge), and generally takes stock on how the past 12 months treated them. While I'll certainly go more in depth about what 2008 was for me (honestly, it wasn't that exciting), I feel like making a post about the frivolously fun part of the year - the things I wore. First, it's funny when I look at the above images because, in the first half of the year it was all black and red. Then, black and yellow. Strange. Anyway, weird coincidences aside, I found it really fun to go back and see how I dressed myself in '08. I definitely think I learned a few things about my style, and how to dress my body. And I'm still learning. I was also heavily influenced by the 40's through the 60's ... the 60's is always going to be lurking above my head when I stare into my closet each morning. Overall, it was a fashionable year, with a few mistakes (of course), and lots of lovely new pieces introduced into my wardrobe.

Here's to 2009, and hoping that I'll be getting a lot more fabulous dresses (and shoes, and purses, and necklaces and ...)

I just love a good 60's wardrobe! your updos are fantastic!

I think my own style has evolved quite a bit from the beginning of the year. For starters Im wearing heels, and am going for a slightly tougher aesthitic. Now it's a matter of a balance of the two.

You look lovely in all of the outfits! What a great sense of style. It rather reminds me of Chuck from pushing Daisies :)

aw you always look so cute. how did you do your hair in the second april picture (with red lipstick)? it looks so cute and retro, i want to try it. did you have bangs then, though? did you just curl the bottom and pull one side back? mainly it's the bangs thing i want to figure out. i have bangs and i just realized you might not have had them when you did that hairstyle.

underadarksky - thank you. I did have bangs, they were pinned back and hairsprayed; then the ends were just curled with a medium-barrel iron
Hope this helps!
