I still exist, I swear

Hello, hello! I bet you're surprised to see an update on here from me. Well, don't be! I'm just in a very productive mood and figured I'd head on over here to let you all know what I've been up to.

So, in January I moved out of my parents' house and in to an apartment in Toronto, where I live with a roommate and a very adorable, very cuddly tabby cat. He's actually asleep on my bed right now. I live in a great neighbourhood that is super-fun to explore on sunny days (which are rare at the moment, but I'm looking forward to the ones that Spring will bring).
I'm also going to school, studying acting, so that takes up quite a bit of time and will continue to for awhile. But that's what I wanted to study, and it's really fun and I'm learning a lot, so I can't complain.
I'm also still writing for xoJane, of course (my two biggest passions are writing, and acting/film, so I wouldn't let that go, no matter how busy I was), and I'm still contributing to Rookie as well.
For some snippets of recent stuff, check out these xoJane articles:
- Holy Crap I Own A Lot Of Books (a few of my favourite coffee table book suggestions)
- Don't Pin A Rose On Your Nose: Buy These Flowery Beauty Products Instead (I love anything rose-scented or inspired, this is a round-up of just that)
- Eating Like A Grown-Up: The Best Salad EVER In The History of the World (moving out means cooking for myself, and this salad recipe is one of my favourite things to make)
- Big-Ass Bathtub Bonanza: My Favourite Products For Gettin' Clean (some of the best bath products you'll ever use)
- I Have A Hair Crush On Zooey Deschanel (a Zooey Deschanel inspired hair tutorial)
+++ many more ...

So basically, I'm a busy lady! But that doesn't mean I want to abandon this blog, or don't care about it. Because I really do, and I love that people read it, or read the tumblr for it (which is more frequently updated, check it out). I promise to update more, especially with outfit posts (I never take outfit posts lately because I always feel like I'm so bundled up in parka/gloves/scarf as it is) but I plan on dressing up more this Spring. What about you guys? It's not to say that I don't put effort into my dressing when it's cold, because I definitely do. It's just so hard to remember to snap photos! I also feel like my camera is getting crummier by the day, I really need to upgrade but being on a student budget won't really allow for that.

Wow, I always feel like when I disappear for awhile, I just come back and ramble. I know blogs that are mostly text and not a lot of pictures aren't the biggest draw but hey, that's me for ya. I'm a wordy girl. I'll throw in some photos though, just so you don't hate me too much. ;)

Here's my bookcase, freshly organized by colour. The top shelf is a slowly-evolving shrine to the colour pink, but as you can see it's not finished because there's some green and blue still creeping in, but soon I'll get it sorted out. In the meantime, each of the other shelves sort of has a theme, at least colour-wise. I like collecting knick-knacks and what not so they're all kind of sorted by shelf. I'll do a more elaborate post on the pink shelf sometime, when it's done, and show off all the neat little things hiding up there.

Here's the kitty I live with. He often tries to jump into my lap and type at the keyboard while I'm working. Tsk tsk.

Today I bought this Tin-Tin postcard and then the beat-up copy of Those Without Shadows (by Françoise Sagan, who also wrote Bonjour Tristesse, which was turned into a film starring a very stylish Jean Seberg.) I love that these two items match in colour, a colour scheme that's been on my mind for awhile and always sort of in the back of my mind. The white, the blue, and the red. It reminds me a lot of another one of my favourite style inspiration films, Pierrot le Fou. Really, I'm just getting excited for Spring/Summer. It's a very summery palette.

Some stills from Pierrot le Fou.

And lastly, because Polyvore always helps me express my fashion, inspiration, whatever whatever ... some sets.

So, who else can't stop thinking about Spring?

SPRING is on my mind like since December! Its 8°C here now and quite sunny today as well - makes me so happy. I always get so full of energy when the spring comes. Anyway, the cat is so adorable! And your shelf as well, xx

Thanks for the update - the lack of posts are totally understandable especially with all that you have going on. And I know what you mean - I totally cannot wait for the full-on spring weather especially with the odd weather we've been experiencing with sunshine one day and then snow the next

I had mentioned on your post with close up pictures of your pink shrine that I'd love to see a shot of your whole book case, and lo and behold it was just a page back. Splendid! And I look forward to reading your posts!
